[LINK] It's not so much drinkable moonshine they're looking for as that other kind of fuel you might be cooking up in your backyard. The guy (see the link) was trying to do the right thing. He spent $1,200 converting his diesel car to run on vegetable oil. He bought soybean oil (at a higher price than diesel) to make the fuel. then topped it off with a bumper sticker that said "Powered by 100% Vegetable Oil".Then he got slapped with a $1,000 fine for not paying motor fuel taxes, and to expect another $1,000 fine from the Feds. He can then use his homebrew in the car after posting a $2,500 bond.
It's an admirable effort on his part, but if you are going to try this at home you might want to be prepared to pay The Man.

We have an old guy in a neighboring town who goes around collecting the old grease from fast food places and then he converts it into fuel for his self-remodeled car. It smells like greasy fries. I don't think they have caught up with him yet.
