Worst. Souvenir. Ever.

[LINK] I know that people don't generally care about fish. I personally don't eat fish because I don't eat "beings", but most people I know DO eat them... but eating them is not the issue here. This is a Chinese Olympics souvenir (probably unofficial), a keychain that contains a live fish! Killing a fish merely for a gimmick. First of all, to use a living creature like this is unthinkable, and how stupid an idea is this? Sooo stupid and wrong on so many levels. It can't possibly be fed because the item is sealed up. Luckily for the fish, it would probably not live long.

Who would buy this? Do they think it's fun for a kid? What kind of a message is that to teach them? Disgusting.

As you know from a couple posts on my blog, I love fish and all marine life. I eat fish and cows and pigs, etc., because humans are omnivores and I don't have a problem eating something for sustinence. Heck, fish eat fish all the time!

But I really have a problem with this kind of stuff. No one would think to do this to a mammal because you'd have to witness the obvious anguish the animal would be in. But because marine creatures often don't display pain or suffering in ways that are recognizable to use, I think humans often assume they don't feel pain. This is absolutely cruel. It reminds me of the a**holes who catch sharks, cut off their fins, and then drop the live helpless animal back into the ocean. All so they can make some soup. Human insensitivity to other creatures is sometimes astounding.

But, how else are you going to have a sealed bag of dead rotted fish?

That makes me ill. And I kinda have trouble breathing when I look at it.

I am thinking that they could have very easily made a little animatronic fish, something that wiggles around when you shake it. It would have been cute. And not sicko.

This is just so very wrong, and pointless, and beyond idiotic.
