I wrote a letter to Amazon.com via the Humane Society's campaign to get them to stop selling cockfighting magazines and dogfighting videos!! This is utter crap. Barnes & Noble and other online sellers don't sell this stuff, and nobody should be selling it.
Humane Society: "Amazon claims that its commercial sale of these publications is protected by the First Amendment. But the First Amendment does not protect companies advertising illegal contraband, and that's exactly what the magazines sold by Amazon are doing."
Want to let them know what you think? Here's a link to get you started.

Thanks so much for letting me know about this...this kind of animal cruelty just pisses me off.
Kiddie porn is also an illegal activity and I bet they don't post kiddie porn flicks...free speech is not completely free when it hurts other living things...and is illegal!
The boycott is ON.
I honestly did not know they sold this kind of crap. If I order from them I usually just search for what I want then check out. Im not a browser so I had no idea.
I am tired of people calling this a sport. I think its cruel.
I know somebody who thinks its great, and I told them their views make me sick and they said "its a step up from eating them, which everyone is perfectly fine about!!"
I am not sure that everyone is fine, I also think we can make distinctions between senseless pain and what is done at least in theory, for food. Not that I think its humane either, oh never mind. Now I am ranting again, in circles.
Assuming that a sport may include unwilling participants who are tortured, maimed, and or killed... then this is a sport.
Support for animal-fighting has GOT to stop. Voicing support or tolerance for it is one thing, but Amazon is making money off of it. That goes way over the line.
Thanks for doing that, Kay!
Thanks for posting this. I had no idea Amazon was promoting this sort of stuff! Problem is, cockfighting is still legal in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana which is outrageous!
I'll start using Barnes and Noble for my links, too.

Keep us updated because it looks like I'll be shopping Barnes and Noble online, too.
Borders is teamed with Amazon, too. Maybe that's a route in.
Will do! I found out through the Humane Society newsletter, and I'm sure they will be keeping tabs and sending out updates.
ACK! Damn them! That's just stupid business. And doggone it, I just ordered a few things this week. If only I were more organized and kept up with your blog like I should be. Argh. Well, I'll send them a nasty note. THANKS for the heads up.
