Olympic-sized cruelty

[LINK] Another heartbreaking animal story out of China. They are rounding up cats by the thousand and sending them to death camps... and not for euthanasia... if not killed outright they are left to die of neglect. People are being told that the cats are spreading diseases and must be eliminated. There is mass paranoia over it, so that people are throwing their animals out to be collected or even killing them themselves. 6 cats (including 2 pregnant females) were beaten to death with sticks by Kindergarten teachers who feared for the children. The cat population of Beijing that is at risk of extermination is 500,000. It is suspected by many to merely be a step in "cleaning up the place" for the Olympics, as other measures, such as shipping the street people away to camps, are being taken.

This animal paranoia and extermination is not a new thing. Back in 2006, after 3 people died from rabies in a certain county in China, 50,000 dogs were slaughtered. Only 3% of dogs are vaccinated against the disease there.

Is it overreacting to say that it would serve them right if they all die from bubonic plague? Sheesh.

That's disgusting,and barbaric,and short minded,and ill informed and cruel...oh wait,I think I just described China.
I didn't need to see that second image.Or the first one for that matter.
Serious bummer. You know I'm a dog guy,but I've had several cats in my life and love them too. This just breaks my heart BB.

The pictures are really hard to look at, and much different pictures of themselves than they will be showing to the world on TV. Sickening!! The dog story from 2 years ago is just as bad. It's hard for me to comprehend how people could do that.

I've been hearing about this and it is truly disgusting. One wonders what they are going to do with the ginormous rodent population that is going to explode once there are no cats. Argggggghhhh!

Asshats

I am seriously thinking of doing a boycott the summer Olympics post -- I'm just so sick of China and this opportunity for them to spread propaganda during the Olympics is just infuriating.

I'm sure I won't be able to avoid watching some of the events but I'd really like to compile a list of sponsors and give them hell for a year.
