Amazing. Elephants are my favorite animals by far. They are incredibly intelligent, loving, and loyal. They really do have long memories, and they regularly return to the bones of their dead to honor them. So seeing a painting elephant actually makes sense to me - they have incredible minds.
Elephants, and dolphins, and Gorillas are my favorites. Too bad they have to share the planet with humans. We tend to fuck things up for all the rest of the intelligent creatures on this lovely planet. Chimps paint too. All the big brained creatures probably have the ability to create art.
wow...I'm impressed, but not surprised.Like divajood said. They are almost as smart as turtles. We place ourselves way to high on the evolutionary scale when we should be humbled by those "lesser" creatures.
I find it sad. Somehow, I don't quite think the elephants suddenly feel the muse and take a brush to their hand (uhm, trunk). They are forced to do that, and probably not via sweet words. I blogged it here.

I completely agree with both comments.

I worried too that perhaps their training was not all that kind until I saw the second video and the Elephant's reactions to other art. Truly amazing.
