Got yours?

If you are planning on seeing The Dark Knight this weekend, I hope that you already have your tickets. I heard on the news that it's pretty much sold out through Monday already. We got these last Saturday, a week ago, and the ticket seller said there were only a couple hundred left for the day we wanted (the evening ones were already sold out, but lucky for us we preferred the noon anyway).

The Tomatometer on this one is a stunning 94% for 193 reviews, not that I use Tomatometers as a complete guide... I disagree with them quite a bit, but when you have one that high it increases the chances that most people won't think it's a turkey. (Don't get me wrong... I *love* [movie] turkeys sometimes!)

Normally we would go to the Alamo Drafthouse, and even though the promise of special Dark Knight beers and batty-goodness in the preview show -- we can't resist going IMAX.

Time to go get in line.

oh I am envious...IMAX...wow...it will so rock...

we saw it yesterday...it was amazing...really really welldone....excellent music....and stunning footage, but also really wellwritten......

and yes, Heath is haunting....and unrecognizable..and better than Jack could ever have been....it is a whole new side to the character....

and yes, there are some messeges in the movie of course about hidden heros....and saving what matters....

ENjoy !!!!!

You know, it's not as if I'm in a cave but I don't know much about the film other than all the hype. You know it's a slow summer when on msn.com there's a feature comparing dark night to harry potter.. does one have to compare with anything? Anyhow, good for you to go to the Imax, sometimes, films just seem much more enjoyable when seen either in a theater or Imax setting..(it's that 'je ne sais qua') I'm sure we'll get your review and I'm looking forward to it..

Oh, I could give Mr. Bee a hard-on just to say I want to go to see it with him. I'll wait a week or two though. He usually has to be the action movie pusher, while I push the foreign films (to which he says, "I don't go to a movie to read....") If you had gone to Alamo, you would have had to have shown up as soon as the previous showing was finished or you would probably have been stuck on the first row, which I have suffered through a few times.

(A confession: I've never gone to the IMAX

Well, we are back... and all I can say is WOW. It was truly awesome, and should be seen on IMAX if possible. Heath Ledger could get a posthumous Oscar for it, or at least a nomination. He was amazing. Very disturbing. Leave the kids at home.

We got there 1 hr + 45 mins early and the line was already snaked all the way through the lobby of the museum. I'm not used to being back that far in line, but we still got the seats we wanted.

e4e: yes, I picked up quite a few tidbits of modern day political relevance.

Ingrid: if this is too dark or not for you, go to one of those nature things. They have a Whales and Dolphins thing in 3D showing, and when the 3-D is done right, you won't believe how great it is - plus those are an hour long and less of a commitment of time. I want to see that one too.

FriedaB: Well... it does have some eye candy in it (Christian Bale), and I've always had a little thing for Michael Caine. I think it's the accent.

Blueberry..we're gonna see Lewis Black next friday at the new music hall. I'm not too sure about the venue it doesn't look like a great venue like the one we saw him last year at the Bass concert hall on the UT grounds..but..it's Lewis Black! I'm not too much into Batman and I've never gone to see any of the films so I won't see this one either. There's one that I would like to see called Brick Lane (review is in the current chronicle)..
anyway, important thing is that you enjoyed it and weren't disappointed!

Ingrid: the venue (Austin Music Hall) is pretty bad, but probably OK for him since he isn't music.

Blueberry..wasn't this the touted music hall that just got finished?? It's pretty flat but like you said, since it's stand up comedy as opposed to music, we should be ok (acoustics??0

The acoustics are not improved with the renovations (still crap). All they did was spruce up the outside design, enhance VIP areas (nothing I've been inside, but before there wasn't much of that).

They use reserved seats a lot now (maybe always? not sure), and some of the seat arrangements are bizarre, like the sideways sections on the floor. I guess they can cram in more people now with the added balcony. Seating chart still not as weird as the old, soon-to-close Backyard, where you could end up behind a tree, or where front row could be way back and 3rd-4th row closer.

For standup comedy, acoustics should not be an issue though.
